ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Julia Pontones and I'd like to thank you for stopping by my page. I LOVE to cook. I LOVE to work out. Most importantly, I love to share my passion for delicious healthy cooking and fitness with others. Besides being a Master Personal Trainer, I'm also a home chef with a burning desire to cook simple, creative foods that will not only fuel my fitness progress, but also satisfy my soul.
Once upon a time I had a terrible relationship with food, AND myself for that matter. To make a very long and dramatic story short, I was a ballet dancer with a very troubled childhood and developed an eating disorder when I was 15 years old. I stayed trapped in a world of self hate and until I was 30 and it was only after injury when I couldn't dance anymore that I realized if I didn't change I was going to die. The first change I made was in my diet. I started to look at food as a way to heal my body, not a way to punish it. I also began to run, practice yoga and Pilates. As I grew stronger, so did my quest for better food choices and different styles of fitness. Admittedly, I had always loved to cook despite the eating disorder, but I felt a new creative freedom in the kitchen. Once I found weight lifting the rest was history. 10 years later here I am, telling people that there is a better life! And happiness! All of the happiness! Most importantly, it's accessible to ANYBODY, IF you really commit to changing your lifestyle.
My journey was difficult. There are still speed bumps and roadblocks to this day that challenge me. The difference now is that I have the tools to go over, around or through whatever lies ahead. That's why I'm here today. I'm going to share all of my tips, tricks, and hacks that I learned the very hard way (I've always been stubborn, right Mom?). Having support is integral in any kind of recovery. My sister was and still is my support and I look to her for advice all of the time. Now it's time for me to be here for you!
I truly believe that good health is a lifestyle, not just meal prepping or working out. Once you develop the habit of wellness, you’ll never go back!
